You Have Been Pressure Washing the Wrong Way If You Have Been Doing These 3 Things

Pressure washing is one excellent way to clean various surfaces in your home, both indoors and outdoors. While pressure washing is oftentimes done by professionals, taking on this cleaning project around your home on your own can save you some money. However, for this to pay off, you have to do it perfectly or you won't achieve the level of cleaning you thought you would. With pressure washing, you can easily finish your project with errors without even knowing it. Here are some of the errors you should avoid when pressure washing.

Using the Wrong Amount of Pressure

If you don't know what the right pressure to use is to begin with, you will definitely apply the wrong pressure. Applying extremely low amounts of pressure won't do any good and using too much pressure can damage a surface, especially if you are pressure washing wooden decking. High pressure can be an outcome of holding the nozzle of your pressure washer too close to the surface you are cleaning.

Therefore, before you start the washing, give yourself some distance from the surface or hold the nozzle a bit higher. Using the wrong nozzles can also lead to incorrect amounts of pressure. When the pressure washer nozzle is worn or damaged, make sure the one you replace it with is rated according to the range of pressure allowed on your pressure washer. You can consult your owner's manual or your retailer for the correct nozzle ratings.

Neglecting the Use of Chemical Solvents/Cleansers

Water alone will not do the trick because the cleaning agents actually help break down some of the dirt particles and make them easy to wash away. You need to use the correct cleaning solution, so make sure you mix the ratios of your cleaning agents as required. Another significant aspect about using cleaning solutions is that they help maintain the required pressure. Therefore, with water alone, you may have to use more pressure, which is a mistake as explained above.

Being Unsteady When Pressure Washing

A steady motion when pressure washing is very important because it affects the consistency of the pressure of the cleaning solution being ejected onto the surface. Therefore, once you are set to start pressure washing, hold the spray nozzle at the correct position (usually perpendicular above the surface you are cleaning) and maintain your motion. This will not only prevent zebra stripping but will also ensure that you are not applying too much pressure at a single spot.

If you're worried about any of these issues, don't hesitate to contact pressure cleaning professionals.

Cleaning Carpets and Upholstery

Hello! Welcome to my cleaning blog. My name is Darren. I am currently living in New South Wales with my wife and our two wonderful children. My wife and I are pretty sharp when it comes to housework. Despite the fact we both have full-time jobs, we still find the time to keep the house in decent shape. However, one thing we do struggle with is keeping the carpets and upholstery clean in our home. Thankfully, we found a great cleaning service who now visit us once a month to give the place a deep clean. They have also given us some great cleaning tips.
