This is the tale of evil older than time itself...
|
The tale begins
thousands of years ago, when the first woman to exist in mortal form was
created by the gods of Greece and opened the Box. Unlimited evils
were let loose upon the world, and the only thing that remained when the
Box closed was our Hope. Champions arose over the centuries to fight
those evils, but although they could be pushed back or kept at bay, mankind
has never been able to truly defeat the Box's legacy.
Millenium
passed, and the tiny, insignificant residue of those evils within the Box
festered and grew into forces more substantial.
Now,
the Box has been found and is opened once again, letting loose those forces
upon a world already at the brink of war. Several beings of Darkness
are created, given life by the evils of the Box, among them five robots
of unprecedented killing power -- Jezebel, Navia, Raex, Iman, and Quin,
receptacles of rage, madness, greed, lust and fear.
But another
has been created to battle the darkness : Angelynn, a robot that houses
the Box itself and holds the power to take the evils back to where they
belong. She, along with others spirits of goodness, fight the evil
robots and the others who have been corrupted by the Box.
The theme of Pandora's Box will be a combination of action, questing and a bit of my own philosophy thrown in. A big message of the story will be that in the end, everything boils down to "What do you believe?". I plan on integrating many different religions and myths with technology to create an interesting techno-fantasy feel, and will be setting the whole thing up to grown in literally cosmic proportions.
First
off, a bit about the story's namesake, Pandora's Box -- this magical artifact,
appearing to be nothing more than a small chest chipped out of obsidian
and lined with gold, is the most powerful containment unit ever to exist
in Creation. The Box can hold nearly anything and will NOT open under any
circumstances except one : it has to be voluntarily opened by a living
being.
However,
it's not really the Box itself that bears so much weight in this tale as
it is the people whose lives are influenced by it. Angelynn's quest
to put an end to the evils is the main focus, and as the story progresses
she finds others who also have a need or drive to prevent the Box's spawn
from achieving their respective goals -- there are even those who arrive
on the scene who seem to know that there's more to the Box reopenning than
just the robots, those who serve a higher power. These beings and
their own agendas reveal secrets that grow deeper and darker, until Angelynn
is led to understand that the Box is but a tool in a conspiracy so immense
that it reaches the highest of all Powers, and is part of unleashing the
greatest threat Reality has ever faced...
Confused yet? Well, I'm trying to keep people generally in the dark for now, until this thing actually gets somewhere on paper. No point in giving away everything before the show, hmm?
